How to Get There

Located about 15 km south of Leh, Guphuk Viewpoint sits on Fort Road (Upper Tukcha Road), just past Leh Palace. It’s accessible by bike, hike, or taxi, with a moderate uphill walk of 20–40 minutes from the main road to reach the lookout point.

What to Expect

Perched above Leh town, Guphuk offers breathtaking, 360° panoramas of the Indus Valley and surrounding Himalayan ridges. It’s a quiet spot, mostly visited by locals during sunrise and sunset. Bring water, sturdy shoes, and be ready for thin air at ~3,500 m elevation. The trail is rocky but well-trodden.

For the Curious

  • Popular photography location thanks to stunning sunrise/sunset lighting .

  • No shops or facilities—this is a natural vantage point, not a cafe or rest stop.

  • Ideal for short treks, casual sunrise visits, or snapping valley-overview shots without heading out of town.

  • Offers quick access compared to longer Ladakh treks—great for acclimatizing or squeezing into a half-day outing.
