Vibe: A private, beachfront midrange resort

What it's really like:

Mango Bay Resort is a laid-back, chill beachfront resort with beautiful tropical gardens. It's perfect for a quiet holiday to really get away and unwind.

There are three main sections on their large property:

• Parking/Reception

• 1 and 2 bedroom bures (set away from the main area and quieter)

• Restaurant/Bar/Pool/Beachfront and ocean view bures.

A basic breakfast is included (keep an eye out for the babakau/fried bread, it's amazing) and hot breakfasts are available à la carte.

The restaurant had an all-day Bar Menu (burgers, pizzas, snacks and western items), and a rotating 5-Day menu with more locally inspired options. Optional all-inclusive meal packages are also available.

At high tide, you can enjoy paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkelling, using the resort's equipment.

There are no shops close by or within walking distance. You will need to stop at Sigatoka on the way for any supplies you want, which is about an hour's drive.

There are two resident dogs that are old but friendly.
