Where The Kids Roam

Hidden in one of Shirakawa-go's authentic gassho-zukuri houses, this husband and wife coffee operation has become one of the village's worst-kept secrets. They've transformed part of a traditional steep-roofed farmhouse into what might be the most atmospheric coffee spot in central Japan.

The lines start forming early for good reason - not only are you getting expertly crafted coffee, but you're drinking it inside a piece of living history. The couple has managed to preserve all the charm of the original farmhouse while turning it into a cozy coffee sanctuary.
