Where The Kids Roam

We were right on the doorstep of the Ninja Weapon Museum but ended up choosing the Ninja Temple (Myōryū-ji) instead - classic travel dilemma! While we went with the architectural marvels and secret passages of the temple, I've heard this museum offers a more hands-on ninja experience.

What apparently makes it special is the chance to actually throw real ninja stars under proper guidance - definitely a unique opportunity you won't find at many Japanese museums. Friends who've been say the collection of artifacts provides a deeper understanding of ninja tools and weapons than the somewhat mythologized versions we see in movies.

If we'd had time for both, it would have made a perfect ninja-themed day in Kanazawa. So for anyone planning their Kanazawa itinerary - if you're choosing between them, the temple gives you architectural tricks and historical context, while this museum offers more hands-on experiences and detailed weapon knowledge.
