Message from Where The Kids Roam

Let's be real about Nara Park - yes, you have to do it, but those deer can be intense! When we visited, the male deer were particularly aggressive, and while the whole bowing-for-crackers thing is cute at first, it quickly turns into "deer harassment" - they'll chase you down if they think you're holding out on them.

1,200 sacred deer roaming freely around ancient temples in a massive, Instagrammable park. And some moments are genuinely special - like when you find that one super polite deer that bows perfectly before gently taking a cracker.

Interesting note: The park's actually having to consider deer population control now because there are so many of them causing environmental damage. Turns out even sacred deer can be too much of a good thing!
