Sometimes the best travel moments are the simplest ones - like finding the perfect patch of lawn to sit and stare up at Hishi Yagura. There's something mesmerizing about this diamond-shaped tower perched up on its massive stone wall. The craftsmanship is mind-blowing when you really look at it - they somehow managed to create this three-story geometric masterpiece using 14-meter cypress posts back when power tools definitely weren't a thing.

While most people snap their photos and move on, this became one of my favorite spots in all of Kanazawa just to sit and chill. The way the tower stands against the sky, almost like a giant geometric puzzle piece, makes it the perfect spot to take a break from sightseeing and just... be.

Sure, it was built as a watchtower, but these days it's more like a meditation spot - if you can find your own quiet moment on the lawn to appreciate it.
