Best time

To enjoy all the attractions of the towns, festivals, and beer gardens, the best time would be from the beginning of May to the end of September.

In winter, the roads leading to the small towns may be closed for maintenance, many attractions and castles may have reduced hours, and festivals in the towns may not be taking place.

But, if you can only do the route outside the above period, I suggest visiting only the larger cities such as Würzburg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Augsburg, and Füssen.
