By Air

Cologne Airport is shared with Bonn and is situated between the two cities.

There are direct flights from various cities across Germany and Europe, primarily operated by Eurowings.

To reach Cologne city center, simply head down to the S-Bahn station and take an S19 train bound for the Hauptbahnhof.

By Train

If arriving by train — whether from Frankfurt Airport or other cities in Germany and Europe — the first attraction you will see upon exiting the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) is the Cathedral.

The Hauptbahnhof is an attraction in its own right, as it is one of the largest and most beautiful train stations in Germany.

By Car

If you are arriving by car, there is a large parking garage located directly beneath the Cathedral — the ideal place to park your vehicle and begin your sightseeing.

By Bus

Although less common for long-distance travel than the train, there are bus options available from cities across Germany and other countries traveling to Cologne.

Several bus companies operate these routes, but the largest is FlixBus; I recommend purchasing your tickets via this website.

In Cologne, the FlixBus station is located at Terminal 2 of the airport.

Advantage: This can be the most economical option, although it offers less flexibility regarding schedules and destinations compared to the train.
