Opening

The mountain's visiting hours correspond to the cable car's operating schedule:

- Alpspitzbahn: The cable car runs from the Alpspitzbahn station — which is served by the rack railway (Zahnradbahn) arriving from Garmisch-Partenkirchen — from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Transport Suggestion

To reach the Alpspitze, take the Zahnradbahn (rack railway) departing from the Zugspitzbahnhof station in Garmisch and ride it to the Alpspitzbahn station. From there, take the Alpspitzbahn cable car up to the summit of the Alpspitze.

For the descent to the base of the mountain, you can simply retrace your steps; however, another excellent option is to take the Hochalmbahn cable car directly to the Hochalm peak, and then hike a short distance down the mountain to the Kreuzeck peak. From there, take the Kreuzeckbahn cable car down to the train station in the valley. You can then catch the rack railway once again to return to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen station.

Tickets

A one-day admission ticket (known as "Garmisch-Classic"), including round-trip transportation from the station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, costs €37.00 for adults; for teenagers aged 16 to 18, it costs €29.50; and for children aged 6 to 15, it costs €18.50. For families, prices drop to €37.00 per adult and €7.00 for children aged 6 to 18.

Other ticket options are also available—such as one-way tickets (for either the ascent or descent) or combined two-day passes for other peaks in the region.

All tickets can be purchased on this website.

Address

For those arriving by car, the official parking area is Parkplatz Kreuzeckbahn / Alpspitzbahn (Am Kreuzeckbahnhof 1). It is spacious and free for those who purchase a cable car ticket.
