Point Danger sits right on the border between Queensland and New South Wales and is one of the most scenic coastal lookouts on the southern Gold Coast. From here, the ocean opens wide with uninterrupted views stretching from Snapper Rocks and Coolangatta all the way down to Byron Bay on clear days.
The area is ideal for a slow walk, a quiet picnic, or simply stopping to watch the waves roll in. It’s also a well-known spot for whale watching between June and November, when humpback whales migrate along the coast and can often be seen from the headland.
Sunrise and sunset are the best times to visit, with soft light hitting the cliffs and ocean, creating a calm and expansive atmosphere. Easy to access and completely free, Point Danger is perfect if you want a peaceful viewpoint without crowds, right at the edge of two states.
