Located in the heart of Ghent, Gravensteen is a medieval castle with narrow towers, intriguing halls and impressive views. Although no one has lived there for centuries, the building is not empty or deserted.
The only medieval castle in Flanders to be surrounded by water and equipped with an almost intact defence system, visitors have access to the gate, the city wall, the keep, the count's residence and the stables. Within the castle walls are the Court and Weapons Museum. The Court Museum displays court objects and torture instruments. The Castle of Counts is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, culture and architecture. It offers a unique and fascinating insight into knights and nobles of the Middle Ages.
