Waterfalls that are the result of snowmelt will not look the same throughout the whole year.
Yosemite has many waterfalls that are the result of snowmelt, and we made the mistake of going during Fall. That being said, most of the iconic falls were basically dry.
The park still looks stunning and it was still an amazing experience, but we can wait to do it again when the waterfalls are at their peak.
Spring and early Summer would be ideal time to catch the peak of those iconic waterfalls.
