Day 1
The easiest way to start this trip would be in Venice. From there, Cortina d'Ampezzo is a 2 hour drive north.
Cortina d'Ampezzo
Sightseeing
Charming city in the eastern side of the Dolomites
Cortina d'Ampezzo, a charming town nestled in the Italian Alps, is a popular destination for both summer and winter sports enthusiasts. Known for its picturesque scenery, upscale accommodations, and vibrant après-ski scene, Cortina attracts a mix of jet setters and Italian aristocrats. With a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, the town has evolved into a thriving tourist hub, especially during the winter season when its population swells from 7,000 to 40,000. Home to top-notch ski trails, cultural landmarks like the Basilica Minore dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo, and a renowned ice hockey team, Cortina d'Ampezzo offers a perfect blend of outdoor adventure and alpine charm.
Check into your hotel of choice and enjoy walking around downtown Cortina. There are so many nice stores and unique cafe's to grab some drinks. I highly recommend stopping in at Morona Primizie to taste the Grappa and pick up a bottle of Italian wine.

Wine & Grappa shop in Cortina
One of our favorite shops in Cortina was Morona Primizie S.A.S. “da Giacomo”, a charming little wine and specialty shop right in town next to the North Face store. We had the best experience meeting the owner, who was incredibly welcoming and even let us sample a few of the different grappas he had for sale. He took the time to recommend some amazing bottles of wine based on what we liked, and you could tell he was so passionate about what he does. If you're visiting Cortina, highly recommend coming in here, whether you want to pick up a unique bottle to take home or just enjoy a really authentic local experience.
