Ófærufoss is a stunning waterfall located in the Highlands of Iceland. Its name means "impassable waterfall" in English, and it lives up to its name with its remote location and challenging access. The waterfall cascades down in two levels, surrounded by volcanic rocks and vibrant green moss. It used to have a natural bridge crossing it, but unfortunately, it collapsed. To reach Ófærufoss, visitors need to drive on rough roads and hike along the Eldgjá canyon. It's a hidden gem that not many people know about, making it a perfect spot for those seeking solitude and breathtaking natural beauty. Just make sure to bring a 4x4 vehicle and some snacks, as there are no shops or restaurants nearby.
