The Mosteiro de São Bento, also known as the Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat, is a historic Benedictine monastery located in downtown Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Founded in 1590 by monks from Bahia, the monastery is a stunning example of Portuguese colonial architecture. The church's interior is adorned with intricate gold leaf gilding and features beautiful sculptures and artwork. Today, the monastery is still active, hosting traditional Sunday masses with organ music and Gregorian chanting. It's a must-visit spot for history buffs and architecture enthusiasts exploring Rio de Janeiro.

They sell homemade bread and offer a nice breakfast on some days (check times and prices on the official website).
