Brasília, the capital of Brazil, was founded in 1960 to replace Rio de Janeiro as the national capital. Designed by a team of architects and urban planners, including Oscar Niemeyer, the city is known for its modernist architecture and unique layout. With all three branches of the federal government located there, Brasília also boasts a high GDP per capita among Latin American cities. Its distinctive design, resembling an airplane when viewed from above, has earned it UNESCO World Heritage status. Additionally, Brasília serves as a hub for international diplomacy, hosting numerous foreign embassies and connecting to major cities through its international airport.
