The Pyramid of Djoser is an awe inspiring archaeological site located in the Saqqara necropolis of Egypt. It is the first ever colossal stone building made by man and dates back to the Old Kingdom, around 2670-2650 BC during the Third Dynasty. Its builder was Imhotep, chancellor of the pharaoh and high priest of the god Ra, who personally oversaw its conception, making it one of the largest and most complex monuments of the time and a landmark achievement in Egyptian architecture. With its six story high step pyramid, enormous courtyard, imposing enclosure wall, grand colonnaded entrance - it's no wonder why the site remains so globally renowned to this day!
