This is a drive-to hut. Easily accessible via 2WD.

Base yourself here, and then do short walks from here if you don't fancy carrying a heavy pack for too long. There are plenty of walks in the Kahurangi National Park, including some that are nice and short for kiddos. If you base yourself here, there is the option of walking to some of the several nearby child-friendly huts as a day trip.

Please note, the road to get here is extremely windy. Take it very slowly with kids who get car sick, and allow a lot of time.
