The Track:
In the summer season you can pay for 4WD access to drive right to the door of the hut. Condition dependent.
Otherwise it's a downhill, then flat, then uphill walk on a 4WD road to the hut.
In winter you'll have to snowshoe or cross country ski to the hut as regular walking is not possible on the groomed trails. You'll also have to purchase a trail pass.
Honestly, this is an amazing experience that's well worth it. Meadow Hut is easier to access than here if you're a complete beginner, but this one is doable too.
The track is a blue rated cross country skiing track.
The views from here are much more spectacular than from the other nearby huts.
Hut:
The hut's are cute, cosy, with very decent logburners. They're well insulated, and we were not cold despite it being the middle of winter and the fire dying overnight.
During the ski season it books out very fast - you'll have to book months in advance.
It's fully equipped with gas cooktops, cutlery, crockery, pots, and everything else you need to cook. Just BYO bedding, clothes, food, and toiletries.
Cellphone reception at the hut.
Recommendations:
This is a fantastic experience in winter. They don't drop off bags to this hut, and it is harder to ski to with a decent uphill section just before the hut. So if you've got extra young kids and aren't sure of your own cross country skills, go for Meadow Hut.
In summer it's a great first hut to visit, to a very well equipped hut. - Or you can even drive.
