The Track:
In the summer season you can pay for 4WD access to drive right to the door of the hut. Condition dependent.
Otherwise it's a downhill walk on a 4WD road to the hut.
In winter you'll have to snowshoe or cross country ski to the hut as regular walking is not possible on the groomed trails. You'll also have to purchase a trail pass.
Honestly, this is an amazing experience that's well worth it, and Meadow Hut is the easiest to access of all the Snow Farm huts.
It is however one large bunkroom, so can get noisy with lots of kids - if you're just one family, Bob Lee, or Daisy Lee Huts might be a better option as you can book the whole hut out for your family. They are much harder to get to for beginner cross country skiers though.
The track as far as Meadow Hut is considered a green cross country skiing track, and you can get your bags delivered to the hut for a fee in winter too.
Hut:
The hut is a massive open plan with extra mattresses on the mezzanine floor.
During the ski season it books out very fast - you'll have to book months in advance.
It's fully equipped with gas cooktops, cutlery, crockery, pots, and everything else you need to cook. Just BYO bedding, clothes, food, and toiletries.
Cellphone reception on the hill behind the hut.
Recommendations:
This is a fantastic experience in winter, and this hut is the one on the Snow Farm that's easy enough for first time cross country skiers to make it to.
In summer it's a great first hut to visit as the walk is very short, to a very well equipped hut. - Or you can even drive.
