Parking:

There is a small parking bay on Mangleton Road.

The Track:

The first section crosses a farm paddock before you head off into the bush. Once in the bush, the track is basically flat and short. It does cross some wet muddy sections, but no creeks to cross - pop those kids in gumboots to keep their feet dry.

A rather lovely track, it follows next to the river, and through lovely bush. Plus it's short enough that even a 2yo can walk the whole way.

There are however some sections with the shrubbery overgrowing the track. It's not dense shrubbery, and is pretty easy to push past, but kids who don't like touching wet plants or needing to push past them may not appreciate.

Hut:

The hut is a basic historic, but very tidy 4 bunk hut with open fire. There is a fireguard, but I'd still be very careful with any crawlers / toddlers.

It is very close to the car, but does feel like you're in very dense bush.

Recommendations:

This is a great first trip due to its short distance. It's also not too far back to the car if you forget something or need to bail. Or if you want to send an adult back to grab more gear because you need to carry the kids in and kids + gear was too much to carry in one go.
