Let’s hit the road!!

Day 1

Day 1: Enjoy Darwin

  • Settle in and explore Darwin.

  • My top spots: Casuarina Beach for a morning coffee, Mitchell St for shoppingMindil Beach Sunset Market (if timing’s right), and Darwin Sailing Club for a sunset bev!

  • Rest up for a big week ahead!

1

Casuarina Beach - Where we base in Darwin

beach

From sunrise strolls, to beachfront coffee, to sunset sips

Casuarina Beach is our favourite spot to base when in Darwin; it feels like your own personal paradise.

We'd start our day with a sunrise stroll along the beach - watching the first light paint the sky in soft hues - so magic!

Then we'd do a little workout on the lawn by the surf club, have a shallow (watch out for crocs!!) dip and quick outdoor shower, before heading over to De La Plage for a morning coffee, where I'd set up my laptop and work for a bit. This has to be my favourite cafe in Darwin - right on the beachfront!

In the evenings, Casuarina transforms into a local social haven. You can grab a drink from the Surf Club bar while watching the sunset turn the sky into a breathtaking canvas of colours!

Mitchell Street - The vibrant hub of Darwin

area

If you're looking for night life, restaurants, shops, etc

From restaurants, to pubs, to shops, to night clubs - Mitchell Street is the place to go if you're looking for something to do in Darwin. The girls and I had a big night out here, and it was SO much fun, hopping between bars and dancing the night away!

3

Mindil Beach Sunset Market - Vibrant is an understatement

shop

Grab a bite, then head to the beach to applaud the sunset

If you can, try get here for July 1st which is Northern Territory Day - everyone sets fireworks off and there's a massive free concert on Mindil Beach! INSANE!

The Mindil Beach Markets are a must-visit when you're in Darwin, offering an unforgettable experience that combines an incredible array of food, unique market stalls, and a stunning sunset view. As you wander through the vibrant stalls, you’ll find everything from local crafts and art to clothing, jewellery, and souvenirs—perfect for picking up a special memento or just enjoying the lively atmosphere.

But the real (funny) magic happens as the sun begins to set. The market is right by the beach, so you can grab your food and find a spot to watch the sky transform into a stunning canvas of oranges and pinks. The crowd often claps as the sun dips below the horizon, creating a shared moment of awe. It's very funny haha

Darwin Sailing Club - Best spot for sunset bevs

bar

Huge vibe, good aperols, sunset over the water - you ripper

WHAT A VIBE!

The Darwin Sailing Club is such a vibe and one of the best spots in town to kick back and soak up the iconic Top End sunsets. As the sky turns into a blend of red and oranges over the water, grab a bev, settle into the laid-back atmosphere, and just enjoy it!! It’s no wonder it’s so popular amongst the locals - it's honestly the best spot in town for a sunset drink.

There’s often live music, making it the perfect spot to catch up with mates, enjoy the breeze off the bay, and feel like you’re on a never-ending holiday. Whether you’re there for the music, the sunset, or just the chilled-out energy, the Sailing Club is a Darwin must-do that’ll have you coming back for more.
