Zekate House is one of the best-preserved traditional homes in Gjirokastër, located up on a hill above the Old Bazaar, so expect a bit of an uphill walk to reach it.

The house dates back to the early 19th century and is a great example of Ottoman-era architecture, once belonging to a wealthy local family. Inside, you can explore the different rooms and get a sense of how families lived during that time. There are also informational signs throughout the house that explain the history and details of each space.

The entrance fee is 300 Lek (€3), and the visit itself doesn’t take too long.

Overall, it’s a nice, quick stop if you’re in Gjirokastër and interested in history, especially for the architecture and views over the city.
