Ceren Ismet Shehu is a great spot to try traditional Albanian cuisine, with two locations: one in the center of Tirana inside Tirana Castle and another in the countryside near Surrel, close to Mount Dajti.

The castle location is the most convenient if you’re already in Tirana, while the Surrel restaurant is a nice option if you want a short escape into the hills outside the city.

The concept is simple: you usually choose a main meat dish, and it comes with a variety of traditional appetizers like fli, byrek, fergesë, and other small plates to share. It’s one of the places I often recommend for visitors who want to taste several classic Albanian dishes in one meal.

Prices are quite reasonable, typically around €20–€30 per person depending on the meat you choose. The interiors are decorated with traditional Albanian elements, giving the restaurant a cozy, authentic atmosphere. It’s also a great place to try raki alongside the meal.
