Amallos Beach is one of the best “secret beaches” in Albania: lesser-known, and still relatively untouched compared to most of the Riviera. It’s so under-the-radar that even the name isn’t fully consistent (it’s also been marked as “Lambjano Bay” and “Mateus Beach” on Google Maps), which adds to the hidden feel.
The beach itself is quite small, so I’d definitely recommend arriving early in the morning before others show up. The last time I visited (in July two summers ago), there were only around 10 people—some pitching tents and umbrellas for shade, others arriving by boat—but since space is limited, even a small crowd can make it harder to find a good spot.
The water here is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, making it an amazing place to spend a few quiet hours. While it is technically accessible by car with a 4WD, I’d strongly recommend parking up near “Aleksandra Rooms” (marked on Google Maps) and walking down the dirt road (about 30 minutes). The road itself is rough (as you can see in the video), parking near the beach is limited, and it saves you the hassle of navigating difficult terrain.
Another thing to be aware of: unfortunately in recent summers, there have been reports of someone near the beach claiming it’s private property and charging for parking and/or beach access… and an inconsistent and large amount for Albanian standards. This has become a new occurrence as of summer 2025, but it’s something to keep in mind if visiting in peak season (it’s hard to predict if it’ll happen in summer 2026).
There is also a small spot marked as “The Perfect Spot” on Google Maps, but I’d assume it’s not open and bring your own water, snacks, and essentials. There are no real facilities and likely no sunbeds, which is part of the appeal.
Overall, it’s an incredible, secluded beach that still feels off the beaten path. Even with the uncertainty around access, it can be well worth it if you’re looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful swim in one of the Riviera’s most hidden corners.
