The Pyramid of Tirana is one of the city’s most recognizable and unusual landmarks. Built in 1988 as a museum dedicated to Albania’s former communist leader Enver Hoxha, the pyramid went through many phases after the fall of communism, serving at different times as a conference center, nightclub, and event space.
In recent years, the structure was fully renovated and reopened as a modern innovation and cultural hub. Today, the surrounding area is filled with small “cube” buildings that house cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops, creating a lively social space popular with both locals and visitors. Inside and around the pyramid are spaces dedicated to technology, education, and creative projects.
One of the highlights is that visitors can walk up the wide exterior stairs to the top of the pyramid, where you’ll get a nice panoramic view of Tirana. The area around the pyramid is especially lively in the evenings, making it a great place to stroll, grab a drink, or relax after exploring the city.
