Those that continue down the single track road running down the Glen will be treated to a wondrous show of rugged and raw nature. The iconic glen stretches for approximately 12 miles from the northern shores of Loch Etive, near the village of Dalness, to the remote and stunning Rannoch Moor, and at every twist and turn is just another breathtaking photo opportunity not to be missed. The roads here are good but definitely off the beaten track, we well prepared for off-road conditions, especially on days like this!
The valley is flanked by prominent peaks, of course including the famous Buachaille Etive Mòr and Buachaille Etive Beag, which dominate the skyline and contribute to the glen's dramatic allure, which also set the scene for a meeting with James Bond and “M” in the Skyfall movie.
A wildlife haven and photographers delight, the glen's ever-changing scenery and varied light conditions make it a paradise for both. From sunrise to sunset, the interplay of light and shadow on the mountains, the reflection of the landscape on Loch Etive's calm waters, and the vibrant colours of the changing seasons create captivating compositions from tip to toe.
Red deer graze on the valley floor, while golden eagles soar overhead. Otters can be spotted along the riverbanks, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the elusive Scottish wildcat or pine martens that call this region home.
