When you visit Inveraray Castle, plan for a 1–2 hour stop that includes the guided house tour, the armoury and the formal gardens, and know that popular summer weeks can be busy so buy tickets in advance if you can. The castle sits in a small town with limited parking and narrow roads, so allow extra travel time and expect infrequent public transport; once there you’ll find a café and a small shop and plenty of outdoor space for kids to run. Interiors have historic rooms with uneven floors and stairs, so accessibility is limited and photography may be restricted in parts of the house; dogs are usually welcome in the grounds but not inside the castle. Check the castle’s official website before you go for current opening hours, special events, and ticketing.
