The Story

Glencoe Lochan is an easy, atmospheric loop through planted pine woodland with small lochans and mountain views, so plan on about 30 to 60 minutes depending on how often you stop for photos. The path is mostly compacted gravel with some roots and boardwalks, so wear sturdy shoes and waterproofs because it gets muddy after rain and phone signal can be patchy. There is a small car park off the A82 that fills at busy times and the site is dog friendly, but keep dogs under control near livestock; there are no cafés or public toilets on the trail, so sort facilities in Glencoe village or at the visitor centre beforehand. Visit early or late in the day for quieter light and bring insect repellent in summer.

Don’t Miss

• Trails. Explore and take wrong turns

• Plants, flowers, trees and moss creating their own little biodome

• Ducks a plenty, occasional frogs and salamanders
