Flowing from the foothills of the iconic Buachaille Etive Mòr, the River Coupall meanders its way through the iconic Glencoe, its icy waters falling over the rocky terrain. Along its course, the river creates gentle rapids and sparkling pools that are perfect for a little private swim in the warmer months.

Surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Western Highlands, the River Coupall offers a symphony of sights and sounds. The glint of sunlight dancing on the water's surface, the soothing drone of its flowing currents, and the backdrop of rough mountains paint a picture that captures the essence of Scotland's natural allure. Making your way down the small road at Glen Etive as you begin to circle the Buckle (and easier to say pet name for Buachaille Etive Mòr), a small unsuspecting car park seems to lead nowhere in particular. Cross the road and pop through the small line of trees and over the muddy footpath, following the ever increasing sound of gushing water, you’ll soon reach a perfectly framed picture that could have been imagined by a master.

Majestic falls rush from the river Coupal surrounded by silver birch as the rolling hills across the water lead your eye to the almost incomprehensible Buachaille. Every spiked rock, smoothed surface and bulbous boulder creating its unique silhouette seems within reach.

The River serves as a lifeline for the abundant wildlife that calls Glencoe home. Otters playfully navigate its currents, and you’ll often find herons and dippers gracefully fishing along its banks. The surrounding flora, from wildflowers to old woodlands, finds sustenance in its pure waters. And while the mountain is hard to miss, the vein of life that flows through the ancient Glen is often overlooked, but continues to provide silently for the residents none the less.
