After a recent top to bottom renovation, this is starting to be my favorite resort on Maui for the price/value. The property stretches along a good bit of the coast and they’ve really maxed out the pools, lobby, and restaurant areas when it comes to views. In many ways, the physical property here is much more “show stopping” than some of the more expensive, more luxurious resorts on Maui. Best of all, it’s part of Marriott Bonvoy and this is by far the best Marriott property on Maui.

Things I Love

There are multiple pools, including a large adults only infinity pool overlooking the ocean, a family-friendly pool with two of the biggest waterslides on Maui, two main pools with perfect ocean views and the new Olakino pool. Basically, if you want kid friendly fun, adults only, something chill, or a luxury spa pool experience, you’re going to find it here.

The Olakino Wellness Experience is extra, but I think it’s the best pool experience on Maui (and since Wailea Beach Resort is often quite a bit cheaper than some of the top luxury resorts on Maui, I can justify the price of spending a day or two here). And honestly, it’s currently my #1 favorite thing about staying here. This luxury infinity pool requires reservations (and an extra fee), but they spoil you all day long (treats, chairside mini massages, live music, a champagne toast, etc.). This is a way better experience (and value) than renting a cabana for the day. And the views from the pool are probably the best on Maui.

Chair and umbrella setup is offered at Wailea Beach. The sand is soft, the water is usually calm enough for swimming, and there’s decent snorkeling.

The resort has a great location in between the Andaz and the Grand Wailea/Four Seasons so there are a lot of options for walkable dining. Plus it has super convenient access to the Shops at Wailea.

There are several on-site restaurants, from casual poolside bites to more high end dining with ocean views. There’s a pizza truck and a Starbucks in the lobby plus you’re within easy walking distance to everything at the Shops at Wailea, Andaz, Grand Wailea, and Four Seasons.

The rooms are on the larger side and since the property is long and narrow, a high percentage of the rooms have at least partial ocean views.

The resort feels upscale but still relaxed. If you’re not used to staying at places like the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton, I’ve heard people say they feel way more comfortable here.

Things to Know

The property is flanked by two amazing beaches, but the stretch of coast it actually sits on is rocky. If beach access is the most important thing to you, request a room at the south end of the property. From those buildings, it’s a quicker walk to Wailea Beach than from most rooms at the Grand Wailea (which sits right on Wailea Beach). I don’t personally consider this resort “beachless” because Wailea and Ulua Beach are soooooo close and there’s a path to both, but it does seem to be a “con” to some people so it’s worth mentioning.

It’s a long, skinny property which is great for maximizing ocean views, but less great for towing kids around.

I think Wailea Beach Resort is less service oriented than some of the other resorts in Wailea (Four Seasons and Andaz for sure). It’s not that it has “bad service,” but it’s just not intended to offer the same type of experience. Everyone you encounter is very friendly and helpful, but it’s just a bit more “hands off” than a true luxury resort.
