Istanbul's iconic İstiklal Avenue, often referred to as the Grand Avenue of Pera or simply İstiklal Caddesi, is one of the most famous avenues in Turkey. This 1.4 km pedestrian street of late Ottoman, neo-classical, neo-gothic and art nouveau style buildings runs from Tünel Square on the shores of Galata to Taksim Square and is home to boutiques, music stores, art galleries, cinemas, theatres, libraries, cafés, pubs, nightclubs, hotels, historical patisseries, chocolateries, restaurants and an ever-increasing number of international chain stores. The avenue also features vintage tram rides, the Tunnel subway and the iconic Çiček Pasaji with its lively restaurants and taverns. It's a place where modern meets old, where transportation takes to the streets and where both locals and tourists alike come together to have a great time.

It's the perfect place to people-watch, eat, drink, and shop. You can walk from Taksim square to Galata Tower. Don't forget to look up! There are some amazing old buildings with interesting architecture. You can't miss it while in Istanbul!
