One of my new favorite swimming holes in NC! This one is located in Gorges State Park and can be an add-on to the very popular Rainbow Falls Trail.

The trail to Stairway is located about 3/4 of the way through the Rainbow Falls Trail. I highly recommend downloading the trail so you know where to turn.

After turning the trail is downhill and relatively easy to follow. There were a few downed trees that I had to navigate but nothing crazy difficult.

We did see a copperhead at this waterfall as well as another snake on the main trail to Rainbow Falls. I recommend being vigilant on this one and keeping an eye on your surroundings.
