Dettifoss is a majestic waterfall located in Vatnajökull National Park in Northeast Iceland. This spectacular and powerful waterfall draws tourists from around the world with its awe-inspiring sight! Dettifoss is 100 metres (330 fr) wide with a 44-metre drop into the canyon Jökulsárgljúfur, making it the second most Powerful Waterfall in Europe after Rhine Falls. The falls are fed by the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river and have an average water flow of 193 m³/s, which churns up a greyish white sediment-rich runoff. Tourists looking to visit the incredible Dettifoss can access it via Route 862 on the West side, or Route 864 on the East side, both offering minimal facilities including pit toilets and view-platforms. There is also a maintained hiking path for those who are really seeking out an adventure!
