General
Wollman Rink is one of Central Park’s most iconic attractions, offering ice skating in the winter and a range of warm-weather activities in the summer. Nestled in the park’s southeast corner, it has been a favorite destination for New Yorkers and visitors since it opened in 1950. With the Manhattan skyline rising dramatically in the background, skating here feels like something straight out of a movie—classic, romantic, and unmistakably New York.

Access and Layout
The rink is located near the southeast entrance of Central Park, just a short walk from the entrances at 59th Street and Sixth Avenue or 59th Street and Fifth Avenue. Surrounded by trees and open parkland, Wollman Rink sits in a small valley, offering sweeping views of Midtown’s towers above. In winter, it’s transformed into a large skating rink, while in summer it hosts activities like roller skating, live music, and outdoor events.

The Experience
During the winter months, the rink comes alive with skaters of all ages gliding across the ice, music playing, and city lights twinkling above. Whether you’re skating, watching from the sidelines, or just taking in the view, it’s one of the most memorable experiences in Central Park. In warmer seasons, the rink area shifts into a lively gathering spot, often featuring pop-up food vendors, performances, and community events.

Tips
Arrive early on weekends or evenings to avoid long lines, especially during the holidays. Skate rentals are available on-site, and lockers can be rented for convenience. Dress warmly in winter—the rink can get windy—and bring a camera for those postcard-perfect skyline views. After your visit, stroll north toward The Mall or stop by The Pond and Gapstow Bridge for more of Central Park’s classic scenery.
