Purau Bay is home to just a few dozen properties, a scenic jetty with colourful dinghies, and a laid back vibe that stands out even compared to nearby harbourside villages

The coastline invites a slow stroll cottages, pebbled shoreline, boats bobbing against the hills, and the Coastal Cliffs Walkway connects it to Diamond Harbour and Church Bay if you're up for a longer wander!

Quick tips:

  • Pull over for the view from Purau Port Levy Road, it’s one of the best on Banks Peninsula.

  • Bring a picnic and enjoy the peace, there is no shops, just serene harbour views.

  • Watch the currents before swimming; the water's gentle but can be unpredictable
