Gotokuji Temple is most famously known at the "Lucky Cat Temple" with hundreds of manekineko figurines lining the temple grounds. It is a quiet temple located outside the noisy center of Tokyo and is the perfect stop for any cat-lover interested in Japanese culture and history. The actual corner with the lucky cat figurines is quite small but all the more impressive! Visiting the cat part of the temple doesn't take longer than 10mins but I personally really like this temple as a whole as you have the opportunity to also enjoy a beautiful Japanese garden, learn about the local deity Mitama, and even create yourbown luck charms at the Wish-Making Stone. So I recommend to spend a little more time here to see it all! Make sure to also leave a personal lucky cat behind at the temple grounds 🐱
