Tenku no torii, also known as Torii Gate in the Sky, is a stunning viewing spot located atop a hill within Kawaguchi Asama Shrine and is one of THE tourist spots at Mt Fuji.

If you come here on a clear day, expect to wait 1-2hours in the queue as well as pay a small fee (I think it was 300¥) There is staff regulating the queue and you will have only 3mins per group (not person!) to take your pictures.

Be aware that tenku no torii has opening hours so coming here in the wee hours of the day will unfortunately give you no advantage to beat the queue or get the best light.

It's a bit touristy for my taste and the light is harsh during the day but I recommend to visit in winter when the snow transforms the landscape into a magical winter wonderland - and the queue is much reduced. 🤫
