Tsumago-juku is the most rustic post town in the Kiso Valley on the Nakasendo Trail. It is known for its well-preserved traditional houses, where cars are a no-go during the day and visitors are less than Narai. If you want to hike the Nakasendo Trail, I highly recommend to hike from Magome to Tsumago, as it is less strenuous than the other way around.

Make your way to Nagiso Station by train, Tsumago is a 10min bus ride away. If you miss the bus, the taxi ride is pretty affordable of about 1500Yen max.
