Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple in Kyoto is a hidden gem tucked away in the hills of Arashiyama. This off-the-beaten-path temple features more than 1200 Rakan statues, each carved by different people with unique and whimsical expressions. From statues holding tennis rackets to ones with old-school Walkmans, this temple is full of surprises! It's a fun and fascinating spot to explore, away from the crowds, and definitely worth adding to your Kyoto itinerary. I recommend to take the bus 94 up to Otagidera mae to reach the highest point of the temple and then walk down through the historic streets of Arashiyama
