Skriðuklaustur is in Fljótsdalur valley at the upper end of Lagarfljót lake. It was the home of author Gunnar Gunnarsson (one of the most popular novelists in Denmark and Germany). Klausturkaffi is a café/restaurant in the old dining room on the 1st floor of Gunnar's house. The focus is on the Icelandic cuisine with a special interest in local food products as the Icelandic lamb or reindeer meat.
