Ásbyrgi is a horse shoe shaped canyon in the North of Iceland. It's vertical cliffs has created a protective environment and at the base of it a lush forest grows. Go for a walk all the way to the base and find a little lake. Or do the bigger hike and get all the way to the top for a grand view over the canyon.

If you're coming here from Dettifoss, you must have a 4x4/4wd and you can only drive Road 862 or 864 in the summer. If you're coming from the North/Husavik, the road is open year round but could be very difficult to drive in the winter.
