In the Heysel park in Brussels, you can find this gigantic monument: the Atomium. It is the most popular sight of Brussels, the capital of Belgium and Europe. This 102m tall construction consists of 9 spheres with each a diameter of 18m and it resembles an iron atom (-atomium, you see what they did there?) magnified 165 billion times. 5 of the 9 spheres are open for public. It was built for the universal world exhibition (Expo 58) and designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn.

Inside the Atomium is a museum, an exhibition hall and a viewing platform from where you can enjoy a magnificent view over Brussels and beyond.
