A family-run business since 1953, the thing I love most about Trattoria Mario is the complete embodiment of what a traditional Tuscan Trattoria is meant to be – cheap, no frills, family-oriented, and unapologetically simple in both the décor and plates they’re serving up. The cool part is that the entire menu changes daily (which is traditional but a practice that has been lost with increased tourism), but regardless, the staff are proud of the food they’re serving, and you can tell. This doesn’t go unnoticed though by either locals or visitors – there’s usually a queue outside and they book up quickly, so definitely make a reservation in advance for dining here.

Kacie's Recommendation: As I said, the menu changes daily, but they always have the Florentine Steak, their special Ragu, and the Ribollita on the menu – I’ve tried all three, and all three are absolutely fantastic. In true Florentine fashion however, they do only cook the Florentine Steak rare, so be aware of this before you order it!
