Great place for lunch (pack a picnic) and a short hike through the lava field and just around the area. I also recommend to take a dip in the hot spring. The changing facilities are pretty primitive and might be closed.

You can camp here or stay in the lodge (book ahead of time). There are also amazing day and multiday hikes from here. A great day hike is the Blue Mountain hike.
