Seeing the northern lights are never a guarantee. But, if you want to have a high likelihood of seeing them during the autumn and winter seasons, this region of northern Norway is one of the best places in the world for northern lights hunting because it is directly under the northern oval.

However, if you opt not to take a tour, there's a good chance that you can catch the northern lights right in town between September and April, although there is a risk they could be affected by light pollution.
