Cheam Peak is located in Chilliwack, BC, and is one of the most scenic and panoramic hikes in BC, and it’s only a 2.5 hour drive from the city centre of Vancouver! We do advise to check AllTrails or Google reviews on recent road conditions as you need a 4X4 vehicle or SUV to get to the trailhead. Washouts can be pretty bad on this logging road depending on the time of year, so just be aware before going.

Distance: 8.4 KM (5.2 Miles) roundtrip Elevation Gain: 668m (2165 ft) Difficulty: Moderate/Hard

Cheam Peak is by far our favourite hike in BC, and for good reason. We believe that it’s the most rewarding view for the amount of effort put in, compared to other hikes we’ve done. It’s a short, steep yet doable hike from the trailhead to the peak, and took us around 2-2.5 hours up with heavy packs on. We’ve seen people of all ages complete this hike, so it’s a great one to bring your kids, parents or friends on!

TIPS ON GETTING A CLOUD INVERSION:

  • Go at sunrise or sunset (sunrise is more probable)

  • Go in late Summer or early Fall (August, September, October)

  • Make sure it’s high humidity (90% or higher) There needs to be some clouds in weather forecast (partly cloudy conditions are optimal)
