3 Fall Foliage Tips
3 important things to remember when chasing fall foliage

1. Chase the Light, Not Just the Leaves 🌅
Golden hour is your best friend for vibrant, glowing colors.
Morning light brings soft mist and saturated tones, especially around lakes and rivers.
Evening light adds warmth and depth, perfect for mountain overlooks like Artists Bluff or Cathedral Ledge.
Pro tip: Overcast days are amazing for shooting close-ups—no harsh shadows, just rich, even color.
2. Think Layers, Not Just Leaves 🍂
Frame your shot with a foreground, midground, and background to add depth:
A mossy rock or winding trail in front.
Bright trees in the middle.
Mountains or a lake in the distance.
This makes your photo feel like you could step right into it.
3. Timing Is Everything ⏱️
Colors peak at different elevations and regions, so follow the progression:
Late September: The Whites & higher elevations (Kancamagus, Mount Willard).
Early October: Lakes Region & mid-elevations.
Mid-October: Southern NH & Monadnock Region.
Check the foliage tracker before heading out so you don’t miss peak season.
