Zpráva od Marcel Siebert

Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site is a must-visit destination for those interested in learning about the events of World War II. The site serves as a somber reminder to all of the thousands of victims who were imprisoned and died during the Holocaust. The camp opened in 1933 soon after Adolf Hitler became chancellor of Germany, and served through 1945 when it was liberated by U.S. forces. Detainees included political prisoners, artists, intellectuals, Romani, homosexuals, and the physically and mentally handicapped. During its operation, over 200,000 prisoners passed through the camp’s gates and at least 31,000 were killed. Today, visitors can access exhibits related to the camp’s history and tour some of its historic buildings.
