Wolfgangsee in general is always a great pic when it comes to beautiful destinations. The way this deep turquoise lake is nestled in the surrounding mountain rage is just beautiful. Not only can you chill on beaches all around the lake and take plunges from cliffs or just go for a refreshing swim, or hop on one of the ferrys crossing the lake. But my favorite way to discover the full beauty of a place is always from above with a hike - and then treat myself to a cool off in the water 💦👙

If you're interested - here's a little bit of history to this route. The historic pilgrim’s way leads from St. Gilgen, via Fürberg, over the Falkenstein and the hamlet of Ried to St. Wolfgang. This unique European cultural route with its 24 marked places of interest documents its special importance, from the prehistoric places of worship, through the Christian ministry of St. Wolfgang to the peak of the pilgrimages and the beginning of modern-day tourism.

The path, apart from the moderate steep climb up and down the Falkenstein (200m ascent), is suitable for the whole family and is lined with impressive memorials and exceptional scenic variety.

PS: If you start in St. Gilgen and walk the whole way to St. Wolfgang - I'd recommend taking the ferry back. This way you get to enjoy the whole experience looking down at the lake and then crossing it and seeing it's full beauty.
